Creating age-friendly homes in Greater Manchester... join us at the framework launch
31 August 2021
Greater Manchester’s long-term ambition to improve the quality and quantity of age-friendly housing within the city region is launching its framework delivery plan this month.
As a member of the Housing, Planning and Ageing group, convened by the GM Ageing Hub, we are working with partners across Greater Manchester to deliver on the ambition to 'increase the supply of age-friendly homes'. The group has developed a series pioneering design-research programmes exploring ageing, housing and neighbourhoods, which have culminated in the formation of the ‘Design for Life Agency’, a collaborative research consultancy aiming to support innovation in ageing and urban development.
The launch event will provide an opportunity to learn about the thematic priorities, and showcase some of the work being carried out to achieve these ambitions. This will include the launch of a new publication which we have co-written. ‘A Design for Life' sets out a challenge to architects, developers and policy-makers to come together around the ageing agenda to meet the changing needs and aspirations of our diverse older population.
