Pozzoni recognised at Regional Building Excellence awards
25 July 2017
Three Pozzoni-designed schemes have been recognised at the LABC Regional Building Excellence Awards, the UK’s largest business to business awards in the building control sector.
Surveyors, builders, architects and designers made up a 530-guest audience at the North West Building Excellence Awards 2017, where Pozzoni’s Crewe Lifestyle Centre picked up Best Public Service Building.
The £15m community building is a unique facility that comprises a range of leisure facilities including a swimming pool, library, cafe, family services centre and office space, all under one roof.
With adult day-care facilities for those with learning and sensory disabilities also available, Pozzoni considered accessibility for all throughout the design and included a sheltered dementia garden.
Another scheme recognised at the awards was Kings Leadership Academy, which Pozzoni worked on with Condon Construction for Warrington Borough Council and received a Highly Commended accolade in the Best Educational Building category.
King’s is a multi-million pound secondary and sixth-form free school, with a central, double height feature entrance. The state-of-the-art facilities were designed to benefit not only staff and students but local residents too with the sports facilities available after school hours.
Pozzoni’s Oasis Close was also Highly Commended in the Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development category, with judges impressed by the age-friendly cottage flats and the level of consideration in the end-use of the homes.
After winning at the regional awards, Crewe Lifestyle Centre will now be entered into the national LABC Grand Final, which takes place on November 10th 2017. Fingers crossed!
