Castle Street – Projects
Castle Street
About Castle Street
Part of wider plans to regenerate the area, the Castle Street development brings new affordable-rent homes and shared ownership apartments to Stalybridge.
Situated on the former site of the Tame Foundry textile mill, the three-storey building (phase 1) comprises 21 one-bedroom and 17 two-bedroom apartments, benefitting from river views and easy access to the town centre. 18 shared ownership and rent-to-buy apartments followed as phase 2 of the development.
The apartments occupy a prime location that has been vacant for a number of years and sit alongside a historic mill complex, home to Engine House, a prominent part of the town’s textile heritage.
In the scheme’s design, Pozzoni has been respectful of the area’s history and heritage, but also recognised the need for a contemporary aesthetic that would help to drive the regeneration and revitalisation of Stalybridge.
The scheme is part of GM Mayor, Andy Burnham’s, Greater Manchester Town Centre Challenge and has received grant funding from Homes England.
