An example of inspirational educational design has been created by this new sixth-form facility and two-storey art and music extension.
The calm, light-filled, sophisticated, new-build sixth-form building creates an ideal teaching and learning environment which is complemented by a new dynamic music and art hub, providing a central focus for both departments.
Careful consideration of the positioning of the new sixth-form building provided the opportunity to improve the vehicular access onto and around the school campus, whilst also creating an external plaza area. This provides clearly identifiable pedestrian routes, creating a sense of arrival to the newly completed building.
Developing the detailed brief for this project required close collaboration and engagement with the key stakeholders of the project which included the school governors, teaching staff and contractor team. The result is a building which captures the imaginations and aspirations of the staff and students alike.
