Marple Community Hub – Projects

Marple Community Hub

Client: Stockport Council
Sector: Leisure
Size: 40,700sq ft
Value: £20M
Status: In Progress
Internal Team: Martin Bransby

The scheme includes the demolition of the town’s library, police station, and health clinic to make way for a facility more than double their size.

The proposed two-storey development will house a new library, café, and five-lane swimming pool on its ground floor. On the first floor there will be a gym facility, with flexible studios and a health clinic. Two lifts will be installed to ensure access to the first floor. The project will also include improved cycle and walking route linking the hub to the centre of Marple and the Memorial Park as well as improved parking provision.

The hub is a long-standing ambition of the local council since the former Marple Baths closed five years ago.
