This new primary school replaces the existing two school buildings, providing modern teaching facilities including general classrooms, a library, group rooms, a main hall and studio for shared use with the local community.

The building is two-storey with nursery, reception and infant classrooms located on the ground floor. These classrooms have direct access to the external play space. The junior classrooms, DT/food/science class, library and SEND therapy rooms are on the first floor.

Reflecting the local typology, the new school building incorporates red brick facades with highlights of blue panels adjacent to the windows. The playful blue panels reference the school’s branding and provides a continuity between the existing buildings and the new school.

From the very start of the project, we have worked in close collaboration with the Department for Education, Galliford Try Construction and Pozzoni Architecture, to design a school that will provide the best environment for learning for our children, be fit for the future and be net zero carbon in operation. The process of designing our new school was a very positive experience, all of our ideas and requirements were listened to and acted upon by the design team.
